Breast cancer charity aims to improve Facebook support

The merged charity Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now is looking to more effectively engage with its Facebook fundraisers.

A breast cancer charity has moved to better manage the way it engages with its Facebook fundraisers.

Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now has drafted in GivePanel to deliver a more efficient way of managing its data about those who fundraise for the charity via Facebook.

The move will help the charity to ensure its supporters are thanked. Previously the charity relied on a complex spreadsheet to track its fundraisers on Facebook, which was proving difficult to manage. The new set up with GivePanel allows the charity to see all its fundraisers through an easier to use visual dashboard, and use functions such as tracking labels and message templates.

‘’Every 10 minutes in the UK, someone is diagnosed with breast cancer and our supporters are helping us to find ways to prevent the disease, develop new treatments and support people with the physical and emotional impact of breast cancer,” said Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now Digital Engagement Manager Dan Papworth-Smyth.

“Facebook fundraising is incredibly important to us and thanks to GivePanel, we are able to engage with more of our supporters and thank them for helping us to continue our vital work.”

Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now have merged into one charity to ensure that by 2050 everyone who develops breast cancer will live and receive support. The UK has one of the lowest breast cancer survival rates in Western Europe, with an estimated 11,500 women set to lose their loves to the disease this year.

Engage with Facebook fundraisers

Give Panel was launched in February this year to help charities better engage with their Facebook fundraisers.

“We spoke to one charity who had 16,000 supporters set up Facebook fundraisers (many of them new) but they hadn’t thanked a single one of them because they weren’t sure how to go about it and were worried about how long it would take,” said GivePanel creator Nick Byrne.

“Many charities we talk to are getting called by supporters wondering why the charity has not reached out to them to thank them. This is both bad for the charity and the sector too.”
