Has email truly had its day? Julien Lasaicherre at Facebook certainly seemed to think so, speaking at our Charity Digital Conference back in February. As we look back on some of the top content from the Conference over the next month, we revisit his keynote session in the video below.

In the session he introduces Workplace by Facebook, Facebook’s completely free communication platform for charities.

Despite all the new tools and ways of working out there, figures show that people’s engagement with their jobs is declining, and this is all the more alarming in a sector that relies on the passion of its staff and volunteers. It may simply be time to move on to a new model, says Lasaicherre, that is more representative of how people actually want to communicate.

For a real-life example, we’ve previously covered how Plan International uses Workplace by Facebook to bring staff from around the world together on one platform. But Lasaicherre’s own example of Facebook employees’ own use of the platform is also worth a look.
