Six leaders in the UK’s social good sector have shared inspiring stories to help charities improve their fundraising and raise support for their causes.

The eBook, produced by non-profit’s technology partner Blackbaud Europe, brings together contributions from academics, leaders, and pioneers in UK philanthropy.

Each case study was originally delivered as a seminar at bbcon UK 2018, Blackbaud Europe’s annual conference, before its inclusion in Inspiration: Highlights from bbcon 2018. The event itself saw 50 speakers engage with 300 delegates across two days in central London last October.

The stories have been chosen for their mixture of insight, expertise and inspiration with contributors including Dr Beth Breeze, Director of the Centre for Philanthropy at the University of Kent, alongside social entrepreneurs, consultants and charity leaders.

Other contributors include James McLaughlin, CEO of Cure Leukaemia, on the development of a ‘Big Growth, Small Team’ philosophy; resulting in a four-fold increase in fundraising from a team of six.

The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice share how they raised £21 million through leveraging data, writing and executing one of the largest capital challenges ever organised by a UK hospice.

A wealth of stories

David Benjamin, President of Blackbaud International Markets Group said on release of the eBook: “The first bbcon in the UK for eight years was incredible. Our vision of launching an authentic and valuable conference – different to any other in the sector – really came to life in a way that surpassed all our expectations.

“One of the main goals for bbcon was to deliver truly insightful and inspirational content to the sector, and through a series of brilliant speakers we were able to do this live on stage. For those unable to attend bbcon, and for those who were there and want to hear it again, we’ve chosen a handful of stories and included them here in our latest eBook.”
