ICO publishes GDPR FAQs for charities

The Information Commissioner has added a General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) FAQs for charities to its website.

The FAQs have been added to the existing guidance and advice documents for small organisations, including charities, which consist of:

The FAQs cover consent including marketing consent, where opt in is required, what to include in privacy notices, special category data, security, and when a data protection officer is necessary. They also cover small charities with links to its dedicated helpline for small organisations, its self-assessment tool, and its 12 steps to take now checklist.

Charities are being encouraged to act now in order to ensure GDPR compliance, ahead of the 25 May 2018 deadline.
