The Institute of Fundraising (IoF) is today launching a new GDPR webinar for fundraisers.

Following the success of its practical learning seminars hosted in partnership with Birketts LLP, the IoF will continue to champion fundraising excellence by making the information and advice available online.

The webinars equip fundraisers and their charities with the tools to be GDPR ready ahead of 25th May 2018.

Attendees will learn:

  • An understanding of the key data protection and direct marketing rules and principles and the ability and confidence to recognise and apply these in the course of their day to day activities.
  • An awareness of the key changes that will come into effect in May 2018 and an appreciation of the practical implications of those changes.
  • An individually tailored compliance step plan to feed back to the wider management team within their organisation, identifying work to be undertaken and measures to be implemented before May 2018.
  • Knowledge of where to find further free guidance, resources and updates to assist the organisation in the future.

The GDPR support is available in three webinars, categorised into ‘Introducing the GDPR’, ‘Building a Compliance Plan’ and ‘Focus on Fundraising – communications and case study’.

Fundraisers who purchase the webinars will be able to access the pre-recorded content and supporting documents at any time, enabling fundraisers to plan compliance and best practice strategy at a time that works for them.

Access is available to IoF members for £49 for individual members and £79 for Organisational and Corporate members, and non-members.

Daniel Fluskey, Head of Policy and External Affairs at the Institute of Fundraising said: “We’re really pleased to have been able to launch these new webinars to help charities get ready for GDPR. Building on the success of our training programme with Birketts LLP which has been delivered around the country, we’ve translated the face to face learning into three webinars with supporting documents and resources which will mean any fundraiser can access them at a time and place of their choosing. Compliance with GDPR is essential and we will continue to make sure that fundraisers and charities have the support they need.”
