Contactless payment solution rolled out by charity group

A group of charities in Bristol has unveiled a contactless donation solution that it hopes will help the city’s homeless.

Three contactless donation points have been set up across the city that allow the public to touch their card or phone to donate £2.

Media reports suggest that, so far, the project has already received 200 donations through the contactless card machines.

The initiative is part of the Bristol Rough Sleeping Partnership (RSP) set up by Bristol City Council in November 2015 to tackle the problem of street homelessness in the city.

St Mungo’s, The Julian Trust, Caring in Bristol and Crisis Centre Ministries are members of the RSP and work together to run the city’s night shelters.

No data will be stored in the units or by any of the charities, the developers of the initiative said.
