Poole and Bournemouth Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS) have teamed up to launch The Volunteer Pool, a new online platform designed to promote and encourage employee volunteering.
The initiative was set up after the two organisations, which together support 1,500 charities and voluntary groups, decided they needed a more effective way to connect charitable organisations with local businesses.
The Volunteer Pool platform has been designed to engage business leaders and to make it easier and simpler for employees to browse and apply for volunteering roles that can help to bridge crucial skills gaps, from marketing and accountancy to HR and digital.
The technology behind The Volunteer Pool was delivered by Hireserve, a recruitment software specialist, who worked with Poole CVS and Bournemouth CVS on a pro bono basis to turn the idea into a reality.
Chris Beale, Chief Executive of Poole CVS, commented: “We wanted to make it easier than ever for charities to promote their volunteering vacancies and for employers to encourage their staff to volunteer. With The Volunteer Pool, we can now do this. The plan to develop this business volunteering platform had long been in the pipeline, but we needed to find the right technology partner to work with. Hireserve has been a true partner in every sense; from day one the team understood our needs and brought energy and skills to this project.”
The Volunteer Pool comprises two key elements. The first is an engaging website, which provides information for businesses, individuals and charitable organisations who are interested in the benefits of staff volunteering. The website includes a form where charities can submit their vacancies to be promoted, and a role search function, which employers and their staff can use to browse and apply for volunteering roles.
Behind The Volunteer Poole website lies the powerful applicant tracking technology donated by Hireserve, which enables Poole CVS and Bournemouth CVS to manage volunteering candidates simply and easily.
