The Fundraising Regulator is inviting charities to share feedback on its development of the Fundraising Preference Service (FPS).
Charities, sector professionals and members of the public are being encouraged to share their views in the ‘Have Your Say’ consultation, which enables them to give their thoughts on different elements of the FPS’ development.
Gerald Oppenheim, Head of Policy and Communications, Fundraising Regulator, said: “We are committed to making the FPS’ development an inclusive process, which is why “Have Your Say” is so important. The service’s priority is protecting the public, but we also need the views of the charity sector.
“The service is an important step in rebuilding the public’s trust in the sector, although on its own it is not a ‘silver bullet’. It demands the cooperation and commitment of charities, there is clear progress being made, however there is still a long way to go.”
FPS is due to launch in early summer and will enable individuals to better manage their communication with charities.
Individuals will have the option to opt-out of direct marketing communications from named charities. This will include communications by phone, email, text and direct mail. FPS will operate both online and via telephone.
The Fundraising Regulator is also asking charity professionals and those working in fundraising organisations to share the ‘Have Your Say’ link (found below) and information with their supporters; receiving feedback from members of the public is crucial to allow the FPS to help improve public trust in the sector.
Those interested in the consultation are asked to register online. They will then receive a brief weekly e-mail from the Regulator asking for their opinion on several different aspects of the FPS, ranging from appearance to function.
