Following months of consultation with donors and fundraisers around the country, the Commission on the Donor Experience has outlined the projects it hopes will transform the sector.
The main projects will each address one of a diverse range of issues of great concern to both donors and fundraisers grouped under four main areas – the donor’s view, communicating the experience, the right people and how it works.
Main projects will investigate areas including the use and misuse of language, donor satisfaction and commitment, working with suppliers, and media relations and the public face of charities.
Groups of fundraisers, led mostly by sector professionals who have been recruited at events hosted by the commission and via its website, have until the end of the year to come up with a list of recommendations as to how charities can improve their engagement, which includes digital tech, with donors in each of the 25 areas.
Rachel Hunnybun, commissioners and development director, Sweetpea Charity said: “The breadth and depth of work being undertaken by the Commission shows that its output planned for the end of 2016 will be deep, wide-ranging, substantial and considered. For fundraisers this will be a great and highly useful resource. The output won’t be just a list of things that should be done, it will be really practical and usable guidance on how to implement what is best and right for donors, supported by illustrated examples of exemplary donor experiences in practice.”
