The world’s largest professional network, LinkedIn, has partnered up with youth charity The Prince’s Trust to launch a new fundraising campaign: ‘Add a photo. Get ahead. Make a difference’.
The marketing led campaign encourages those who do not already have a profile picture on LinkedIn to upload one. For every image uploaded before midnight on Wednesday 7th October, LinkedIn will donate £1 to the charity.
The social networking website will also donate 50p for every member who shares the ‘Get Ahead’ publisher post on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn currently has over 380 million members and has offices around the world.
The money raised will help The Prince’s Trust improve young lives across the UK by “giving them the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives and to develop the self-esteem and skills needed for work”.
The integrated campaign, which features “dedicated PR, content and social elements”, will run for three days.
Unlocking new career opportunities
Peter Maxmin, Director of Consumer Marketing, EMEA, at LinkedIn, commented on the benefits that the campaign has to offer LinkedIn members, young people and the charity.
“The work that The Prince’s Trust does in helping young people to access the job market is very close to the heart of our mission at LinkedIn. Not only will the Get Ahead campaign empower our members to support this fantastic charity, but adding a profile image will strengthen their LinkedIn presence, which in turn could unlock new career opportunities.”
LinkedIn – ‘a natural partner’
The Prince’s Trust is a charity helping disadvantaged young people get their lives on track.
The charity’s digital marketing manager, Donna White has commented on the new partnership.
“There are thousands of young people in the UK who are struggling with circumstances that make it difficult for them to move forward with their lives,” she said.
“Employment is often fundamental to helping them build a better future for themselves, which makes LinkedIn a natural partner – together, we help young people develop the skills and self-esteem they need to thrive in the workplace.”
LinkedIn are asking individuals and businesses across the UK to use the #GetAhead to encourage professionals to upload a profile picture and support the work The Prince’s Trust does.
