The Big Give has opened applications to charities for its annual Christmas Challenge, one of the largest online match-funding campaigns in the UK.
Charities that wish to participate have until Friday 17th July to register for the opportunity to have their donations doubled on thebiggive.org.uk, once the campaign goes live in December.
The Christmas Challenge has run annually since 2008 and has raised a total of £64 million across over 2,000 UK-based charity projects.
The ‘match-funding’ service is delivered by a range of philanthropic organisation including the Reed Foundation, the Cabinet Officer, ICAP and the Childhood Trust, amongst others.
These ‘Champions’ offer funds with pledges from the charities’ own major donors so that online donations during the festive period for participating charities are doubled.
This year’s challenge will run from midday on Friday 4th December through into Saturday 5th December.
Any UK charity is able to submit up to two projects to be considered, although only one may receive approval and can cover any aspect of the organisation’s work.
Charities interested in the scheme are being encouraged to register on thebiggive.org.uk and login from this week to apply.
