Datatel Communications, a provider of pay-by-phone cloud technology solutions, has introduced TXT-2-Donate for Charities to allow third sector organisations to collect donations by mobile phone.
Through the new platform, donor initiate a secure donation payment through texting their name and address to a number, specific to the charity, which is provided by Datatel.
No credit card information is transmitted through the text and the donor will receive a text response with a payment code and a telephone number to call in order to make a donation through the user’s credit card.
Datatel has said that the process is “completely secure” and after the call is finished, the donor will receive a donation payment receipt through a text message.
The charity receiving the donation can track each payment as they are issued with a confirmation email.
Datatel claims that the benefits of the new donation method “extend beyond just the convenience and ease of use” as it adds another channel for charities to increase their revenue and donor base.
The donation system is fully automated and as such saves charities time and money for taking payments personally over the telephone and donations can be made 24/7.
