A recent study from Pew has found that young people using social media favour Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. The survey of American teens also found that 71% use more than one social network site.
The report also found:
- Teens are constantly connected.Teens admit to being connected “almost constantly”
- Facebook remains the most popular social network.Almost half of male teens use this site the most
- Teens’ social media use differs based on socioeconomic status. Young people with lower incomes prefer Facebook, those with higher incomes prefer Snapchat
Charities hoping to engage the younger generation can use this information. They can take a look at their social media strategy and ensure that they are paying attention to the popular social channels used by teens and communicating with them in this way.
