I have been looking at the Google designed course run by ‘Squared Online’. This is a six months’ course at around £1400, with a charity discount. It seems to be aimed mainly at commercial digital marketeers. However they have told me it is also relevant to the third sector. Would it be better to do the IDM Online course instead? Has anyone had experience of either course? If so, your comments would be appreciated.

      Hi Simon,
I recently completed the IDM certificate in Social Media Marketing, it was a great way for me to up-skill (I have been a Marketing Manager for two years). I really enjoyed participating in the course, the virtual campus was easy to use and if I missed a class online it was really easy to catch up. The content was engaging and innovative and particular my Tutor (Jen) was awesome.
In the forums, there were a few others from the charitable sectors and everyone seemed to have really varied and interesting jobs, I am pretty sure they all enjoyed the course aswell as comments were always really positive and everyone seemed willing to help and get involved. There were some really interesting topics, particularly on content marketing and crisis management which are valuable regardless of sector and obviously creating strategy and planning.
If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. Good luck and I hope you find the right course for you!

      • Hi both! Came across this thread while reading another article. I’m actually doing the online IDM course now Hayley. Handed in my assignment yesterday! Simon, send me a message if you want to know more. There are some issues but on the whole I recommend the course. Like Hayley says, the content is fresh and accessible, great tutor (mine is Aiden but I know Jen too) and the support is excellent. My email is mtiritas69@gmail.com and twitter @tiritasocial.
