Action Against Hunger is using Blackbaud’s cloud-based online fundraising platform Heroix across its events programme, saving thousands on transaction costs and delivering improved branding across its online fundraising pages.
Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organisation committed to ending child hunger and runs a number of fundraising events throughout the year. The team had always used a number of fundraising platforms in effort to make it as easy as possible for people to donate, but decided a change was required ahead of the launch of its new event, the Rajasthan Cycle 2014.
“As a charity, cost is always a major concern, and we are always looking for ways to reduce the costs incurred on our online fundraising platforms,” said Francine Heggie, Challenge and Community
Events Manager at Action Against Hunger. “We were also unable to customise sponsorship pages to fit in with our own branding and this was particularly important for Rajasthan Cycle 2014, because we rely on sponsorship from other organisations and needed the flexibility to include all of their logos.”
After reviewing a number of options, Action Against Hunger decided the best solution for its needs was Blackbaud Heroix. It provided the desired control over branding and also met the charity’s cost saving criteria with the new Donor Cover feature in Heroix allowing a not-for-profit to prompt its donors to cover the transaction and card fees for that donation.
“The donor cover function in Blackbaud Heroix is fantastic,” said Francine Heggie. “In the Rajasthan Cycle 2014 campaign alone, 60 per cent of donors have opted to cover the processing charges themselves, which means we don’t have to. This has saved us over £2,000 thus far, so in addition to the already cheaper cost structure from Heroix, we are making some significant cost savings.”
Heroix is a fully mobile-optimised and socially savvy platform, designed to make it easy for fundraisers to connect with supporters.
“There is a real elephant in the room with many online giving platforms – people remember the branding of the platform and not that of the cause they are supporting,” said Blackbaud Europe’s General Manager, Peer-to-Peer, John Bird. “Action Against Hunger has recognised this, and we hope it continues to see such great results in its use of Heroix and overall fundraising efforts.”
