The Alzheimer’s Society and Public Health England have selected CloudSymphony and the Salesforce.com Foundation to develop and build the Dementia Friends’ website as part of a national initiative aiming to improve people’s understanding of dementia and reach one million people by 2015.
The Force.com Sites and Communities platform configured by CloudSymphony, enables the creation of public web applications and websites that fully and securely integrate with Alzheimer’s Society’s business processes and connect with multiple social media channels for improved user engagement.
The scalability of the Salesforce.com platform will be hugely important to the Dementia Friends’ campaign as it will enable the management of high volumes of transactions on a daily basis.
By visiting www.alzheimers.dementiafriends.org.uk willing ‘Friends’ will be able to register and sign up as Dementia Friends or Champions, browse available sessions by geographic location and book sessions. All this information is then available in real-time for the Alzheimer’s Society to enable them to automate the sending of literature, book registered Friends into sessions nationally and provide a high level of service that supports the campaign end-to-end.
Richard Ferriman, Chief Executive Officer of CloudSymphony, said: “CloudSymphony is delighted to be a part of something so profound. 670,000 people currently live with Dementia in England and this is set to double within the next 30 years. The awareness the Dementia Friends’ initiative will go a long way to educate people on the best ways to support those suffering with Dementia.
“We are continually proving the quality, stability and flexibility of the Salesforce.com platform in the charity and public sector. My management team and I have already made it clear to our staff that they will have our full support to care for family members with Dementia going forward. We are proud to all be Dementia Friends. I would urge all businesses to follow suite.”
Prime Minister David Cameron said: “I am committed to Britain leading the way in the fight against Dementia, and this initiative by the Alzheimer’s Society is fully supported across all levels of Government.”
