Blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research has won the NEF Innovation Award for ‘Best Example of Voluntary Sector Innovation’ for the fundraising website pledgeit.org.uk.
Pledgeit is a fundraising platform which reverses the traditional model of raising money for charity. You can challenge a friend or yourself to complete a challenge and spread the word on social media.
Friends then pledge how much they think completing the challenge is worth. If completed, the money is taken and 100% of it goes directly to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
Thomas Muirhead, Head of Digital & CRM at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research said: “Winning the innovation award with Pledgeit reminded us of the value of taking a risk and innovating quickly, which are an integral part of our brand principles. With projects like Pledgeit, the digital team here at Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is gaining a reputation for providing digital tools that truly empower our supporters.”
