To mark World Food Day on Wednesday 16th October, UNICEF has teamed up with Weapon7, the digital-focused creative agency, to launch its thought-provoking #emptyplate campaign via Instagram and Twitter, to raise awareness and speak out against child malnutrition.
Drawing upon the popular hipster trend of posting foodie photos with an added filter, the initiative asks supporters to take a picture of an empty plate instead and share the image on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #emptyplate.
The provocative social media campaign intends to increase awareness of the cause and highlight how we take food for granted.
