DataKind, a US charity which links charities with volunteer data scientists, has created a UK branch, it has been reported on civilsociety.co.uk. Announced as part of Big Data Week, the charity seeks funding for its projects and intends to become part of the Charity Commission.
At a ‘data dive’ weekend held in London last autumn, seventy data scientists tackled data issues facing leading charities. The next one is planned for July 2013 and charities are encouraged to take part by registering on the website.
