Not-for-profit fundraising platform, Virgin Money Giving, has teamed up with mobile specialists Usablenet to develop a mobile optimised site which supporters can view on their mobile devices. Virgin Money Giving has been receiving online donations since 2009 but will now be able to accept donations through mobile phones or tablets.
Recent research undertaken by Usablenet revealed that while 80% of charities acknowledged that digital technology was essential for raising money, 76% did not have websites which were accessible through mobile devices.
Patron of Virgin Money Giving, Holly Branson, said: “I know from running my own charity, Big Change Charitable Trust, how important it is for people to be able to donate quickly, easily and efficiently. Often people donate ‘in the moment’ and via a mobile is the quickest and easiest way when you’re on the go.”
