A Barnsley based software company, Merlin, has developed a computer programme Merlin XEN, which makes it easier for charity shops to reclaim Gift Aid. The software complies with the new online Gift Aid reclamation system which HMRC introduced this month, and aims to improve overall functionality and support mobile technology.
Owen Gleadall, Merlin’s founder and managing director, said: “This is a very exciting development. It means all our software will become much more powerful and function-rich and also more user-friendly for our clients. We envisage that this will allow us to increase our market share and help us double our turnover to over £1 million this year, and take on more staff.
“The new Gift Aid module is part of Merlin XEN and is incredibly easy to use. We have also created three versions – a simple one for small charities, say an animal welfare centre, through to an all-singing and dancing version that ties in with retailing and marketing functions.”
