The Wheel, an Irish charity umbrella group, plans to launch a new online fundraising platform called Deal Effect. The website, which launches in June, plans to make money from the popularity of daily deal websites.
Consumers using the site will select a daily deal, achieving a bargain price. Companies will then gain their business and selected charities will receive 11% of the transaction cost.
The Wheel CEO Deirdre Garvey says: “Deal Effect is the modern version of the Christmas card, enabling relatively small but repeat revenues, as well as a way of giving something back to donors without always asking them for money.” She adds that the new innovative platform is exactly what the charitable sectors needs when it comes to fundraising, especially under Ireland’s current economic climate.
