A new social fundraising platform, Believe.in has just launched, which aims to change online giving. It will give 100% of donations to charity, including any Gift Aid reclaimed. The platform has also teamed up with PayPal Giving Fund which will eliminate credit card fees. 170,000 UK charities are already registered to the site.
The platform also allows charities to have their own profile page. They can communicate with their supporters directly, accept donations and grow their donor bases. Any activity on Believe.in can also be shared through social networking sites.
Believe.in monetizes by developing enterprise technology for charities to improve efficiency. It helps charities to make sense of digital channels to grow their communities and spread word of their cause.
Co-founder and CEO of Believe.in, Matthias Metternich, said: “We estimate that every year charities lose approximately £750m to middlemen, who take a cut from the donations they help process. Believe in provides a solution to this that does not tax people’s generosity and enables people to give and fundraise for the charities they care about without a penny lost along the way. At Believe.in, our first focus has been to evolve how charity giving operates online but we’re also already working on a series of other disruptions to major issues affecting the sector.”
