Cancer Research UK has reported that it raised GBP4m with its Dryathlon campaign, which asked people to abstain from alcohol for the month of January and donate the saved money to the charity.
Around 35,000 people took part in the campaign, which used an online microsite and leader board to encourage participation. People also won virtual badges with each significant benchmark which they could then share through their Facebook and Twitter pages. Almost 21,000 people liked the campaign on Facebook.
