The two weeks after Christmas saw a significant rise in visits to online donation platform JustGiving from mobile devices. The site put the rise down to the number of smartphones and tablets given as Christmas presents over the festive period.
The figures rose from 402,000 in the two weeks before Christmas to 770,000 in the two weeks afterwards. 44% of these visits were made from a mobile device. Figures have shown that visits made through Android devices went up by 95%, visits from Apple devices went up by 92% and traffic generated from desktop computers remained fairly stable. Social media played a large part in the , with 15% of the traffic came from Facebook Mobile.
Managing director at JustGiving, Anne-Marie Huby, said: “Smartphones and tablets are fast becoming the most popular devices for giving through our platform, while social networks are already the main driver for donations.”
